The Bulldog Club of Hampton Roads held its first meeting on January 21, 2009. Thirteen potential members attended that first meeting. The only Bulldog Club in Virginia had dissolved many years before and we felt a need to have a club for the many Bulldog owners in the Hampton Roads area. After electing temporary officers, we voted to submit three names for the club to the AKC. We appointed committees to work on By-laws and Constitution, Programs and Match shows. Our first fun match was held in the Spring at the home of our President with Robert Rodenski, judging.
Many interesting programs have been presented for our membership and we have had our two B matches and are now getting ready to submit our application for our first A match. We have supported the Bulldog entry at the Langley K.C. and plan to support the entry at the Chesapeake Dog Fanciers show this September. Our Meet the Breed at a local pet supply store has met with great success and interest in the club. We have had a Halloween costume party/contest at the same store the last several years.
Our membership is steadily growing with a mix of pet owners, breeders, exhibitors in conformation, obedience, rally and a judge.
