Breed History: Bulldogs ![]()
Bulldogs originated in 13th-century England, where they were developed for strength, courage, and determination.
After bull-baiting was outlawed in 1835, breeders worked to preserve the breed and shape the gentle, loyal companion we know today.
The Bulldog Club of America (BCA) was founded in 1890 and serves as the parent club for Bulldogs in the United States, dedicated to protecting and preserving the breed.
