LOUIS TO HOST ’93 NATIONAL SHOW

This year’s Bulldog Club of America national specialty show will be hosted by the Bulldog Club of Greater St. Louis on November 23-28. Six days of educational seminars, discussions, tours, shows and other fun festivities are being planned.

Tuesday, November 23: Tours of St, Louis, including the Anheuser-Busch brewery, are planned for exhibitors and guests.

Wednesday, November 24: An educational seminar for Bulldog breeders and owners is planned to begin at 8 am. The BCA national council will meet during the afternoon. The national sweepstakes competition will be judged during the evening, with Thomas Costello of St. Paul, Minnesota, judging the Dog and Intersex classes, and Linda Sigle of Alexander, Arizona, judging the Bitch classes.

Thursday, November 25: A judges seminar and Bulldog study group will meet during the entire day, with an opportunity for hands-on experience for judges and individuals interested in becoming judges. During the morning, the Obedience classes will be judged by William Oxandale of Crestwood, Missouri, and the junior showmanship competition will be judged by Nancy Paul of Delta, Ohio. The regular Dog classes will be judged in the afternoon by Dr. Saul Schor of Englewood, Colorado, In the evening a round table discussion by prominent Bulldog breeders from across the country is planned.

Friday, November 26: The judges seminar and Bulldog study group will continue through the day, including ringside observations with a mentor. The regular bitch classes will be judged by Nancy Paul in the morning, and Schor will  judge the Intersex competition in the afternoon. Evening hospitality will be sponsored by Sourmug magazine and will include talent and costume contests with cash prizes.

Saturday, November 27: Ruth Ann Williams of Upper Darby, Pennsylvania, will judge the Dog and Intersex classes of the Bulldog of Greater St, Louis specialty show. Bitch classes will be judged by John McGibbon of Anaheim Hills, California. The National banquet will be the highlight of the evening.

Sunday, November 28: Beverly Wagner of Joppa, Maryland, will judge the Dog and Intersex classes of the BCA Division VI specialty show, and Randy Miller of Minneapolis, Minnesota, will judge the bitches.

Throughout the week, the BCA Hall of Fame will be on exhibit. It consists of oil paintings of Best of Breed and Best of Opposite Sex winners of past national shows, and trophies and plaques honoring Bulldogs and Bulldoggers, past and present.

The educational seminars are being coordinated by Russell Thomas and the BCA Education Committee. Participation in the judges seminar and Bulldog study group requires advance registration, no later than November 10. The $40 fee includes lunch, dinner and a show catalog. Entries will close for all three shows on Wednesday, November 10 at the office of the superintendent, Jack Onofrio, Box 25764, Oklahoma City, OK 73125.
