Amy (Dogma) fell in love with the Bulldog breed while working for a Bulldog Specialty surgical vet in the early 1990’s as a college student. She was sidetracked by Great Danes like Pam Blackmon (Amusabull) from the early 90’s until 2000, when close friend and breed mentor Pam got and began showing her first Bulldog. While helping with Pam’s first litter Amy fell in love with a bitch puppy who she and Pam co-owned together and became their first champion, completely owner handled. Amusabull finished 2 Champions out of that first litter, and Dogma and Amusabull have co-owned/finished three Champions together. Suffix and Prefix titles are as important as the other at Dogma & Amusabull to promote the well-rounded Bulldog. As such, most of their Bulldogs are working on achieving Versatility titles through the BCA after completing their Championships, as well as being fantastic ambassadors of the breed by becoming active Therapy Dogs.
Amusabull and Dogma puppies are raised in the household with people and other dogs, and well socialized to noise, activities, car rides, and starting on potty and crate training before going home. Dogma and Amusabull households are members in all-breed Durham Kennel Club (besides the BCA and Piedmont NC Bulldog Club). As such, puppies begin attending club events and classes as soon as they receive their second vaccination (to ensure confidence and curiosity about the world around them). Dogma and Amusabulls Bulldogs have received BISS and AOM awards at specialties, as well as OH Group Placements in the show ring- no small feat for new fanciers/handlers coming from Sporting and Working dogs (given the intricacies of showing the Bulldog compared to other breeds). Dogma’s devotion to the purebred dog include being a Breeder of Merit for Great Danes (and soon to be for Pointers), besides their current activity with Bulldogs.
