The Bulldog Club of America offers a number of awards for achievements by members and dogs.
The requirements for the awards are listed below.
Rodney Trophy
This award is given to the dog/bitch winning Best of Breed at the annual BCA National Show provided the dog/bitch was bred, owned and exhibited by a member of BCA. This is a Perpetual Trophy and is made available for photographs to winners qualifying for the award. A suitable award, commemorating the win, shall be given to qualifying winners. This award is not listed in the show catalog nor awarded at the show. Rather, it is announced and given during the BCA National Banquet.
Dr. Edward M Vardon Award Bowl
This award is presented to the dog/bitch winning Best of Opposite Sex to Best of Breed at the annual BCA National Show provided the dog/bitch was bred, owned and exhibited by a member of BCA. A suitable award, commemorating the win, shall be given to qualifying winners. This award is not listed in the show catalog nor awarded at the show. Rather, it is announced and given during the BCA National Banquet.
Fearnought Award
This award is given to the dog winning Best Stud Dog at the National Show provided the dog is owned by a member of BCA. This is a Perpetual Trophy and is made available for photographs to winners qualifying for the award. A “replica bowl” is to be given to the owners of the dog. This award is not listed in the show catalog nor awarded at the show. Rather, it is announced and given during the BCA National Banquet.
Min-A-Sota Fats Brood Bitch Award
This award is given to bitch winning Best Brood Bitch at the National Show provided the bitch is owned by a member of BCA. This is a Perpetual Trophy and is made available for photographs to winners qualifying for the award. A “replica bowl” is to be given to the owners of the bitch. This award is not listed in the show catalog nor awarded at the show. Rather, it is announced and given during the BCA National Banquet.
Russ Thomas Health Award
Presented by the BCA and the BCA Charitable Fund. Awarded to the National Specialty Best of Breed and Best of Opposite Sex Winners that are Diamond or Platinum Level Ambassador for Health Award Recipients. Each Award includes a $100 Prize that is funded by the BCACF.
National Show Medallions
These medallions are awarded during judging at the National Show for 1st through 4th placements in all classes of Conformation, Rally and Obedience.
Commemorative Awards
A commemorative award shall be given to those Champions receiving a Best of Breed, Award of Merit and/or Select Dog/Bitch awards at the National Show.
The purpose of the BCA Ambassador for Health (AFH) program is to promote betterment of the Bulldog breed through health testing by recognizing Bulldogs, owned by BCA members, which have met specific health testing requirements.
The program has 5 levels of recognition – Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum and Diamond
Outstanding Individual Contributor Award
Awarded to one or two individual members nominated by a Division Board for their outstanding contribution to the BCA organization. The award may be given posthumously to a BCA member who has made extraordinary contributions for more than thirty (30) years. On an exceptional basis, the award may be given to a living BCA member who has made extraordinary contribution for more than thirty-five (35) years. The nominee must no longer be an active member of the association; but must be a member of the association.
A Division Board may nominate up to two (2) candidates for this award per year. A historical narrative of the nominee's contribution to the BCA organization is to be submitted with the nomination to the Gallery/HOF Committee Chairperson thirty (30) days prior to the National Show week. AKC Outstanding Sportsmanship Award
Award is given to a BCA member who has exhibited outstanding qualities of sportsmanship. A candidate for this award may be nominated by a Division Board.
Nominations are to be forwarded to the BCA Executive Committee with a deadline date of June 30 by providing a narrative summary lf the individual and his/her worthiness and qualifications consistent with the AKC Code of Sportsmanship. The Executive Committee, at their discretion, may select a sole nominee to be given the award.
The award shall be announced at the awards banquet. To the extent practical, the name of the nominee shall not be disclosed prior to the award presentation by the Club’s AKC Delegate.
Commemorative Medallion Award
Awarded to Member Clubs celebrating 50, 75, or 100 year anniversaries. It is the responsibility of the Member Club to notify the Awards Chairperson of the anniversary and request the award.
The BCA Hall of Fame was established and the original criteria for qualification was set at the National Council meeting in September 1973. The information listed below describes the current categories and requirements for recognition as amended by the Council through 2011.
The owner of any qualifying dog or bitch must be a member of BCA in good standing, unless the achievement was made prior to BCA's reorganization in 1950. An application for consideration for these awards would need to be submitted by the breeder for himself, or owner of the dog in the case of a Sire or Dam.
